| Arbeitsweise | In contrast to the ‘ABC Booklets’, the ‘ABC Cards’ are loose and can be paired up, offering 'second period' work (recognition). By using one set of cards only, the child can move to 'third period'(mastery). The children can also introduce the letters to each other (or to an adult), and show which ones they are familiar with and which are new to them. They can lay out the letters in alphabetical order and then match the pictures to them (or visa-versa). The ‘ABC Cards’ can be used together with the ‘ABC Booklets’ in pair work. For example: one child can show a picture/letter in the booklet, and the partner must find the matching card |

| Erfahrungen, Tipps, Hinweise | This material is very good for reception classes. The children can display what letters they are already familiar with. Game: one child lays out 5 letter cards and the matching pictures below them. The other child memorises this, then looks away while the first child swaps the position of two picture cards. The second child must then say what has changed. The difficulty can, of course, be increased.
