Kurzbeschreibung | Mathematics – Geometry |
---|---|
Umfang | The material consists of: 14 A5 index cards and 3 x 14 pairing cards (picture, word and text cards), on which the names and diagrams of every line/part of a circle circles are printed. Additionally there is a template, which the children can use to draw and label their own diagrams |
Alter | 4. Schulstufe, 5. Schulstufe, 6. Schulstufe |
Herstellung | All of the cards are meant to be laminated (recommended laminate thickness: 90-125 micron). First trim the edges of the laminated card, then cut exactly down the middle to obtain 2 A5 cards. The picture, word and text cards need to be cut out individually. Sides not to be laminated: template Sides or cards to be bound into a booklet: none |
Inhalt / Lehrplanbezug | Geometry – circles: features, attributes, definitions |
Einsatzmöglichkeiten | Free work. The material requires concentration and is therefore recommended for individual, or perhaps partner work only |
Vorbereitungen | To work with this material, the children require: a desk, lead and colouring pencils, a compass, a ruler, paper (for templates) |
Arbeitsweise | The children can be introduced to terms relating to circles by working with the index cards, and learn them by matching the word and text cards with the picture cards. The cards can also be used to create a booklet |
Selbstkontrolle | The matched picture, word and text cards can be checked by looking at the index cards. Alternatively, coloured stickers could be stuck to the reverse sides of the cards |
Erfahrungen, Tipps, Hinweise | It is possible to introduce the children to just some of the terms in the material, and leave some out. For example, ‘passant’ is not a common word. To draw a circle the children can use a pair of compasses, a complete circle of the metal fractions, or anything round such as a CD spindle. Ideally a compasses should be used - even children as young as 7 years can use them well after a little practice. This material should be used together with other geometric material when possible |
